JOB SUMMARY     

 The Compliance Officer provides direction and oversight of the Compliance Program and is responsible for identifying and assessing areas of compliance risk for the hospital; communicating the importance of the Compliance Program to senior management and the Board of Managers; preparing and distributing the written Code of Conduct, setting forth the ethical principles and policies which are the basis of the Compliance Program;  developing and implementing education programs addressing compliance and the Code of Conduct; implementing a retaliation-free internal reporting process, including an anonymous telephone reporting system;  and collaborating with senior management to effectively incorporate the Compliance Program within system operations and programs and to carry out the responsibilities of the position

The CCO also serves as the hospital district’s HIPPA Privacy Officer.  In this role the HIPPA Privacy Officer will be overseeing all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s HIPPA privacy and security policies in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

Bachelor’s Degree in a Healthcare Related Field or comparable years of experience with healthcare compliance and risk management required.

Master’s Degree in a Healthcare Related Field preferred.

Certification in Healthcare Compliance and Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance required.  These certifications must be obtained within two (2) years of hire.

 

EXPECTATIONS

Coordinate and provide centralized oversight of the organization’s ethics and compliance efforts including the administration, investigation and enforcement of the organization’s ethics and compliance plan and policies. Monitor the day-to-day compliance activities of the hospital district.  Provide leadership for the corporate ethics and compliance program.  Work diligently to foster a culture and climate of sensitivity to ethical and compliant behavior within the organization.  Work an appropriate number of hours to complete tasks in a timely manner.
