Registered Nurse- ICU (FT)
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for assessment, patient problems list, planning care, implementation of care plan, evaluation of care, education of patient and family, excellent communication skills, exhibiting professional behavior, delegating, directing and supervision of patient care. Institutes appropriate nursing interventions, before physician examination, according to department policy and procedure. Facilitate patient flow in the ICU and communicate relevant information to the appropriate health care team, the patient and the family. Make assignments to licensed staff (LVN’s & RNs) and delegate to unlicensed staff in compliance with BNE rules for patients with predictable as well as unpredictable health needs. Implement standing pathway orders based on assessment at patient arrival. Facilitate use of the appropriate resources for support. Document legibly patient responses to treatments and medications and progress towards goals. Complete patient discharge process with focused notation evaluating patient status on leaving the ICU. Act as liaison to the patient and family by providing accurate and timely information regarding the patient’s clinical condition. Use established scripting during pre-defined patient care episodes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Current registered nurse license in the State of Texas, CPR , A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred, National certification is preferred.
Age Specific Population Served: Neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
Acquires the following competency certification within 3 months of hire: Accu-Check, Critical Care and Critical Care Pharmacology Competencies and CPR
Acquires the following certification within 6 months of hire: Basic EKG
Acquires the following certifications within 1 year of hire: ACLS, TNCC and PALS
