The Physical Therapist Assistant functions under the supervision of a Physical Therapist and carries out treatment protocols established by the Physical Therapist, conducts general activity programs, and assists in implementing specific treatment programs for individual patients and patient groups. Observes, records, and reports to primary supervisor the condition, reactions, and response to related assigned duties


Current Texas License and registered with the American Physical Therapy Association; graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Program; new graduates are accepted. Current CP

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:

    • Knowledge of and ability to practice as an assistant within the scope of physical therapy
    • Knowledge and ability to provide appropriate patient care under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist and based on the physical therapist’s plan of care
    • Knowledge and ability to effectively and appropriately supervise physical therapy aide/technician
    • Knowledge of healthcare terminology, anatomy, physiology, and concepts of diseases
    • Knowledge of and enforces the practice of universal precautions and adheres to isolation and sterile techniques when applicable
    • Skill in recognizing when a patient must be seen by a physical therapist (for re-evaluation or change in patient status)
    • Skill in operation of a computer and various software.
    • Skill in maintaining patient records and abiding by HIPPA
