Microbiology is responsible for the effective coordination and supervision of all the functions in the Microbiology laboratory section.
Conducts pretesting and processing samples (PreAnalytic) stains and prepares slides of specimen material for microscopic examination and evaluation; prepares chemical solutions and reagents. Performs, analyzes, interprets, and confirms testing of samples (Analytic) using a wide variety of laboratory procedures requiring independent judgment judgement and using both manual and automated methods in Microbiology.
Medical Technologist (MT) Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent is required.
A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Biological, Physical or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology or equivalent with registration as a Medical Technologist/ or equivalent; with current registration through one of the licensed agencies is preferred, and/or an equivalent combination of experience, education and with the eligibility for high complexity testing.
