Responsible for assisting with triage, assessment, patient problems list, planning care, implementation of care plan, evaluation of care, education of patient and family. Exhibits excellent communication skills and maintains professional behavior. Institutes appropriate nursing interventions, before physician examination, according to department policy and procedure. Facilitates patient flow in the ED and communicates relevant information to the appropriate health care team member, the patient and the family. Delegates to unlicensed staff in compliance with BNE rules. Implements standing pathway orders based on assessment at patient arrival. Facilitates use of the appropriate resources for support. Documents legibly patient responses to treatments and medications and progress towards goals. Completes patients discharge process with focused notation evaluating patient status on leaving the ED. Acts as liaison to the patient and family by providing accurate and timely information regarding the patient’s clinical condition. Uses established scripting during pre-defined patient care episodes.
- Graduate from an accredited School of Vocational Nursing.
- Temporary permit from the State of Texas or valid Texas license.
Acquires the following competency certification within 3 months of hire: Accu-Check Competency and CPR
Acquires the following certification within 6 months of hire: Basic EKG
Acquires the following certifications within 1 year of hire: ACLS, PALS/ENPC, SECURE
