Services Provided

Primary & Preventative Care
Primary and Preventative services designed to meet the needs of the community through access to the PHC include:

  • Primary Care for I-MAP and L-MAP qualified patients
  • TB Clinic
  • Immunizations- Children, Adult and Travel

I-MAP and L-MAP participants are required to obtain care from the Public Health Clinic, except in an emergency, or other referred physicians.

Impatient and Outpatient Services
I-MAP and L-MAP participants have access to inpatient and outpatient hospital services provided at Matagorda Regional Medical Center (MRMC) and Palacios Community Medical Center (PCMC).

  • Only the services available at these facilities, including emergency services.
  • With appropriate orders, and
  • With documented medical necessity.

Laboratory and X-Ray Services
Only those available at MRMC and PCMC.

Physician Services
In-patient physician services are provided by referral and/or through the “on-call” physician for admission through the emergency room at MRMC and PCMC.

Prescription Medications
Only I-MAP participants are eligible for up to 3 prescriptions per month. Coordination of providing prescription medications is performed through a third party prescription scholarship program.

MCHD has adopted reasonable procedures for:

  • minimizing the opportunity for fraud,
  • establishing methods for detecting and identifying situations in which a question of fraud may exist, and
  • administrative hearings to be conducted on disqualifying persons in cases where fraud appears to exist.

Procedures for administrative hearings conducted under this section shall provide for appropriate due process, including procedures for appeals.
