Community Relations

MRMC is dedicated to providing quality and compassionate healthcare to our community through wellness events. We will update this page as events are scheduled. If you are interested in planning a health fair for your organization or business, please contact Tiffany Foltyn at 979-241-5522.

Blood Drives

MRMC is a secondary facility for the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center and we host a Blood Drive the 3rd Friday of every month in a Donor Coach located outside the front entrance of Matagorda Regional Medical Center. The donation times are 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. For appointment: 979-241-5520 or visit www.giveblood.org and enter sponsor code 2676. Walk-ins are always welcome too!

Lab Screenings

Lab Screenings are offered the third Thursday of every month from 7 a.m. – 9 a.m. (Fasting is required for an accurate reading of most tests). Call 979-241-5922 for fee information and questions.

Screenings offered include:

  • Blood sugar (glucose)
  • Total cholesterol
  • CBC (complete blood count)
  • HIV
  • ALT & AST (liver function test)
  • HGB-A1C (monitor of glucose control, recommended every three months)
  • Lipid Profile (total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL & LDL)
  • Thyroid Profile (T3, T4, T7)
  • Iron
  • Potassium
  • Blood Type/Rh
  • PSA (Prostatic Spec. Antigen)
  • BMP (sodium, potassium, chloride, CO2, glucose, Bun, calcium)
  • CMP (BMP, AST, ALT, T. Bilirubin, Albumin, Total protein)

 

Speakers Bureau

Healthcare professionals are available to speak on health topics to interested community groups, professional organizations, businesses, and schools. Call our Community Relations Department at 979-241-5522 for further information or to request a speaker.

Hospital Tours

Hospital tours are available to interested groups and schools. Theme related tours are available for children such as Franklin Goes to the Hospital. We enjoy touring groups or individuals. Please call our Community Relations Department at 979-241-5522 to schedule a tour.

American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society will have a representative from their Victoria Office available the first Thursday of each month from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Conference Room A to assist with questions regarding Relay for Life and the service it provides for Matagorda County, including wigs, prosthesis, information, education, programs, services and volunteer opportunities.
