Patients, families, employees, physicians and guests have been welcomed at the new Matagorda Regional Medical Center on the SE corner of Highway 35 and Nile Valley Parkway since July 30, 2009. This new name reflects the reality that additional healthcare services have been added, technology has changed, and diagnostic capabilities have improved. The new hospital is much more than the general hospital that has been serving a widening geographic area since 1940. With a name change comes a change in expectations. We have strived to build this hospital to meet the changing needs of our communities. Matagorda Regional Medical Center represents our effort to create a hospital where all of our constituents can feel they have had a part in its development.
We are using the tagline Your Health, Your Hospital to emphasize our desire to continue building a partnership with the community as we all seek to find opportunities to support wellness, and when needed, provide high quality health care, state-of-the art technologies, and diagnostic improvements in a comfortable, healing environment. The staff at Matagorda Regional Medical Center wants to demonstrate that we have earned the confidence that the Matagorda County residents have given to us by supporting the construction of this new facility. I’m very proud to be associated with the dedicated staff of professionals that work at MRMC – many of whom have dedicated their entire careers to meeting the health care needs of our community. Likewise, it is a privilege to partner with outstanding physicians in our community to bring you a level of care envied by many communities.
Everyone agrees that individuals have a direct role in their own health and wellness. And all agree that quality healthcare should be available close to one’s own home. It is our hope that Matagorda Regional Medical Center can be a partner in Your Health, and be Your Hospital. If we all continue to work together, make each other aware of where and how we can continue to improve, I anticipate an ever evolving center of wellness support and quality health care delivery at a place formally named Matagorda Regional Medical Center. The Matagorda County Hospital District was established in 1965 by an act of the Texas Legislature to serve the health care needs of all the residents of Matagorda County. The Hospital District consists of: Matagorda Regional Medical Center, the Public Health Clinic, and the WIC Clinic. A seven-member Board of Managers is appointed by the Commissioners’ Court to govern and assist in the management of all facility.
